Alliance for Health Policy Webinar on COVID-19 Regulatory Actions
On March 27th, Wynne Health Group Chairman Billy Wynne participated in an Alliance for Health Policy webinar where he discussed COVID-19 related regulatory actions. Wynne provided a diverse and detailed overview on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidance on provider flexibilities, such as the expansion of telehealth services for Medicare beneficiaries in response to COVID-19. He also discussed the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE), the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) emergency authorization of diagnostic tests, and infection control measures for nursing home staff, patients, and visitors. Additionally, Wynne detailed other COVID-19 response efforts such as treatments and vaccines and Section 1135 waivers, which have been used in states to waive certain Medicare and Medicaid requirements. Wynne forecasted for the listeners that CMS “catastrophic plans intend to cover COVID-19 diagnostics and treatment services”.
