Alliance for Health Policy Webinar on the Provider Relief Fund
On August 3rd, Wynne Health Group Chairman Billy Wynne engaged in an Alliance for Health Policy webinar where he discussed the Provider Relief Fund (PRF). Wynne noted that some stakeholders have voiced their concern with the speed in which the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has distributed the much-needed funds. Wynne specifically noted that “the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is still lacking up to $60 billion of the available $175 billion in allocated funds”. He detailed that one reason for the sluggish movement of funds is that HHS has expressed concern about the uncertainty of congressional funding and in return have deliberately slowed the allocation of funds. Wynne elaborated that this uncertainty can be seen by the disparity of funding between the Democrats proposal of an additional $100 billion for the PRF in Phase 4, while Republicans have only proposed $25 billion.
