Arnold Foundation-Funded Public Option Institute Will Track State Progress
The non-profit foundation funded by billionaire couple John and Laura Arnold is stepping up its efforts to tackle high health costs in the commercial sector, recently funding health policy consultant Billy Wynne’s Public Option Institute to explore the potential for public option programs to rein in prices.
Wynne and his team at Wynne Health Policy will be tracking and analyzing state and local efforts to implement a public option, starting with the current efforts in Washington and Colorado, Politico first reported.
The Arnold Foundation donated nearly $400,000 for the institute and note that it’s only a small portion of their work in that sector. The Foundation is also funding the National Academy of State Health Policy’s new Center for State Health Care System Costs that will produce model cost control legislation, Modern Healthcare reported earlier this month
