Impact Health Policy Partners Statement Condemning the Overturning of Roe v. Wade
As an organization that strongly and without qualification supports the basic human rights of women, including the exclusive right to make decisions impacting their own bodies, the Impact Health Policy Partners is disgusted by the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. This repugnant decision is wrong as a matter of law, policy, morality, and basic human decency, and a tragic, hideous leap backwards in the fight for true equality for women in all aspects of our society.
It is not the slightest coincidence that this decision will disproportionately impact black and brown people and other communities that have been economically and socially marginalized. As a society, we cannot pretend that these disproportionate impacts are incidental; they are part of ongoing and willful system of oppression that extracts a horrific toll on these people, including their lives.
Impact Health Policy Partners will proudly pay for travel or any other related costs necessary to ensure that all of our employees can access abortion procedures and other reproductive services. We will also multiply our efforts to advocate for health access, health equity, and women’s rights, and expand our financial and pro bono support to organizations that do the same. We have identified several actions the Biden Administration can take to help mitigate the effects of the decision here.
We would also like to lift up the voices of organizations that are fighting for women’s reproductive rights and the disproportionate impact this decision has on communities — including women, other birthing persons, non-binary individuals, and transgender men — that have been marginalized:
