Lena Marceno has over 10 years experience advising federal, state, and local agencies to improve public health programs, with special industry expertise in behavioral health and health equity. She has personally project managed a seven-figure portfolio of federally funded public health projects.

Prior to joining Impact Health, Lena worked for five years at the Altarum Institute, a non-profit consultancy that helps federal, state, and local health agencies and foundations improve health equity and outcomes through better systems of care. Her work at Altarum included serving as the project director for the SAMHSA Peer Recovery Center of Excellence subcontract that entailed aggregating and implementing best practices for peer integration in HIV prevention and treatment. She has authored a wide array of reports, toolkits, issue briefs, policies, and procedures to support the transformation of public health agencies and organizations. Additional areas of substantive focus during her time at Altarum included medication assisted therapy, school health and safety, primary care, and intraorganizational cooperation.

Earlier in her career, Lena served as a Prevention Specialist and Program Manager for the City of Springfield Department of Health and Human Services where she led their Maternal Health Coalition and developed strategies and policy positions for the Wester Massachusetts Health Equity Commission. Prior to that, she was an ORISE Research Fellow with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health. She has worked on Capitol Hill in the office of two prominent Senators and interned with the African Health Policy Network in London.

Lena received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Northeastern University and her Masters of Science in International Health Policy from the London School of Economics.
